Cancer in the Workplace and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

The EEOC has recently issued new guidance about obtaining, using and disclosing medical information about a job applicant or employee concerning cancer or cancer treatment. As stated in the guidelines, "Cancer is a disability under the ADA when it or its side effects substantially limit(s) one or more of a person's major life activities."The guidelines are incorporated into a document called Questions and Answers About Cancer in the Workplace and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
